Review: ART Pro MPA II
Positives:Solid construction, build quality, aesthetically appealing, amazing sound, easy to use
Negatives:Only negative for me is the orange light on the level meters quickly becomes unpleasant. No cons for performance at all.
Two things you should know before I start (1. I love a bargain (2. I’m a fan of tube mic preamps.
With that being said, I found myself interested in the ART Pro MPA II. As I always do, (before I make any decision on a purchase) I started reading reviews and studying shootout information. I mean, if something is a piece of junk then you would hear (or read) about it from multiple sources. I spent several weeks learning about the product before making my purchase, and I must say, I am highly pleased with the decision.
ART has taken 2 solid 12AX7 tubes, and wrapped them in a solid metal housing. This dual channel preamp allows for 2 mono inputs or a stereo pair. The black body makes in a blend-in piece while having stand-out performance qualities. 2 large level meters on the face of this equipment add to the aesthetic appeal. The Pro MPA II is a simple device to use and is a solid purchase for any level use, beginner to professional.
I have used this preamp on just about everything from vocals to bass, acoustic guitar to overheads. This has become my go-to preamp and I’ll probably purchase one or two more in the near future.
