My Review

New Hampshire-based Earthworks is a mic firm renowned for their uber-clean and truthful mics. Yes, theones with the little tapering physiques and itty bitty capsules that look a heck of a lot like measurement microphones. If you have actually checked out any of my recent testimonials of their mics you will know that I typically refer to these high-definition mics as the “straight wire with gain” of the microphone world. They impart little if any additional character upon the source which is great for live, classical, and jazz performances.

Their microphone preamps are of the same exacting quality and transparency. We use them when wanting to a/b characteristics of microphones. All of our mic shootouts use this preamp sent directly into our Avid HD 16 I/O
