Review: KRK VXT-8 Active Studio Monitors
Positives:Good value, true sound, translate well
Negatives:Mid level monitors, mine had issues after a couple years
These are great Mid level studio monitors. Here are the stats 8″ woofer/ 1″ tweeter. 120W LF, 60W HF, Frequency response: 40Hz-22kHz (+/-1.5dB). The rest of the stats can be had anywhere on the net so on with the review.
This are a pretty good true to sound monitor. They have an 8″ woofer but dont expect earthshaking bass, thats not what they are for. It is so you can hear the low stuff even down to 40hz. My mixes translated pretty well with these but you have to watch out for a couple things. First these are alot of speaker so if you have a small mix room these may be too much. By that I mean my mix room is small and they excited the room too much giving me unnecessary reflections. If you have a larger room make sure you have adequate treatments.
There are also plenty of option to adjust frequency levels and there is also onboard clip protection.
I did however have an issue with one that required repair. Part of the amplifier went bad and had to send it in. The good news is repairs (if out of warranty) are not too bad and parts are not that expensive. I bought a spare tweeter once for about $60.
All in all these are great monitors that perform above their target price range. A good even response and plenty of low end. They make music exciting to listen too and also translate well to other sources. A good buy.
