Review: Logic X
Some great new features.
No drastic changes and still pretty buggy.
Well it’s been a long time coming. Not really sure what to say about Logic X it’s not what I expected but it could be worse I guess.
Graphics: The GUI to me is just awfull it’s very dark and looks kind of like Garageband pro but you can customise it with scins etc. so its not too bad.
Usability: Not too much has changed in this department so I can’t really complain, If you had Logic 9 make sure to import your key commands… Whats really good is that you can shift around various tracks now by selecting them in the edit window. Also Trackstacks are amazing!
New features: The midi FX are a really kool new feature that helps creating music a lot. Also the drummer plugin is very kool and useful. The vintage synth is allright but nothing mindblowing. Overall the new features are nice to have but nothing you need as an engineer.
Bugs: Now lets get to the meat: Lots of bugs have been reported since the release. Im on version 10.4 which is the newest to this date: I get frequent harddrive overloads even when recording just one channel of vocals… Also when savin while playback the sound just stops and the Locator keeps running. Appart from that it works but I still rely on 9 for most of my jobs.
