Review: Radial ProRMP Re-Amp box
Positives:Easy to use - literarily just pug and play
Ground lift switch eliminates any hum or buzz.
The Radial ProRMP is a 100% passive box that allows you to re-amp audio. Re-amping is the process of taking any already recorded sound (or VI instrument) and sending it out into an amplifier in a room, allowing you to then capture that sound via a mic. Whats great about re-amping is you can focus 100% on getting the sound you want and not be a distraction to the performance, as its already been recorded. Thus if you mix ideas change, you are not stuck! AWESOME!!
The Radial ProRMP is dead easy to use. Simply plugin and play, and it will do the necessary impedance matching for you. Just adjust the level and your good to go!
According to Radial, the magic behind the ProRMP’s great tone is a custom wound transformer that at once converts the balanced low-z source to a hi-z input for your amp while also acting as an electrical isolator to eliminate troublesome ground loops that can often cause buzz and hum in the sound. I dont know about all that technical stuff, but to me it sounds WAY better than just taking the output from my audio interface into my amp.
Build quality is EXCELLENT. Cased in heavy metal, I’m sure this thing could take a beating and still sound great! I only use it in the studio, but I’ll have no worries brining it on the road with me if I feel its needed.
