Review: Roland GR55 Guitar Synth
Positives:Reasons I love my GR55 ... 1. The fact I only need this 1 pedal 2. Because it's makes my organ sounds huge ;-) 3. I no longer have to take my 12 string electric & 6 string acoustic 4. I no longer have to TUNE my 12 string electric & 6 string acoustic 5. People stare in disbelief at some of the things it can do 6. I can record pretty convincing keyboard parts 7. The sound quality is superb 8. The build quality is superb 9. There's a whole world of people who share patch settings & advice 10. Did I mention that I only have to take 1 pedal to gigs?
Negatives:Navigating the menus, to tweak patches, takes a lot of getting used to. Erm .... ... that's it.
My GR55 goes to every guitar gig with me now. It does all of the multi-FX, modelling and synth stuff I could ever want. It’s there doing subtle strings in the background, screaming organ in the foreground, looping a cello part which I noodle over the top, and adding Les Paul / Marshall grunt on top of my actual Les Paul / Marshall grunt.
