Review: Softube Summit Audio Grand Channel
Positives:Great sound, lots of flexibility, good presets
Negatives:EQ can be overwhelming for entry level users
What an awesome plug in! Basically what you get are two plug ins in one (and you can separate them). You get an emulation of the Summit Audio EQF-100 EQ and the TLA-100 Compressor. You also get as part of the strip a section which includes internal sidechaining, saturation, parallel compression, and even a switch to change the order of the eq and compressor. In use it sounds fantastic. The EQ has a lot going on and can be tough to get the hang of but it is set up the same way as the hardware. The EQ is very open and has a lot of air options. With the adjustable Q settings you can dial in frequencies pretty tightly. The Compressor is very simple to operate with a fixed ratio. You can dial in gain and peak reduction and there are settings for slow fast and medium atack and release. Its a very good comp for just about ecerything. The best part of this plug in is use as a strip. Throw it on your busses and it will really glue things together. Also want to add the there a lot of presets and they are VERY good. I usually start with a preset and change things from there.
Usually goes for $299 but there are plenty of places to find a good deal on it
