Demonize your Drums with Devil Loc
Sountoys Devil Loc plugin is essentially a distorting compressor, employing 2 knobs (Crush and Crunch) ti add complex distortion/compression artifacts unique to this processor. Based of the Shure Level-Loc processor, It is an extreme effect designed for public speaker that basically crushes your signal compressed. Think Lo-Fi Drum loops for EDM. Parallel Compressing drums is incredibly gratifying with the Devil Loc. The results always a fun surprise due to the interaction with the input knob of the unit (Crush) and the release time. Dial it in to find your sweet spot before it explodes and takes things above and beyond. The full version of the plugin employs a Mix knob which is my favorite feature, and a darkness knob that controls a High Cut filter and helps to keep things from getting too bright and overwhelming. I love adding dirt/grit to Kicks and snares, and vocal doubles are Crushed beyond recognizable and “Mixed” to taste. it can really solidify something. On bass it’s a Godsend (lol) it adds a distortion grit/characteristics that can be addicting. Pushing the unit makes the compression start to “suck” the life out and pump unpredictably. This is not for the faint of heart. Get the demo and get possesed by Soundtoys‘ Devil Loc Plugin.
