Review: TC Electronic Flashback Delay and Looper Pedal
Positives:Lots of features for a good price, tap tempo is easy, stereo
Negatives:doesnt self oscillate like a true analog would, looper a bit tough to get the hang of.
TC is making great pedals right now. The build and sound quality are excellent and the price is reasonable.
Considering the price this delay pedal is incredible. It is a digital delay that models various analog, digital and tape delays. In additional bonus is the loop feature and tone print which lets you download extra settings to the pedal via usb.
There are 10 modeled delay units including the tone print and a looper. The digital delays are perfect and exactly what you would expect from TC. The analog delays sound very well modeled, as long as you leave the settings alone. Being it is a digital delay dont expect to do some crazy self oscillating like you would with a memory man. It sort of does it but not well at all. So as long as you just set the delay and play its awesome. Another great feature is the tap tempo. Simply hold down the on/off switch and play your muted strings to the desired speed for 4 beats and its there! Then you can use the subdivision switch for quarter notes, dotted eights, and quart plus dotted eights for that bouncing edge (U2) type of sound.
The loop function is a little fumbly for me, I havent spent too much time with it as its not something I bought the pedal for. But it is there and if you get the hang of it it works fine with 40 seconds of loop.
This pedal gets high ratings because of its price. You get a lot of features for a lot less than other analog or analog modeling delays.
