Review: Traynor Ironhorse DH40H 40 Watt Guitar Amp Head
Looks awesome, sounds great, very well constructed.
Traynor is not one of the more popular and well known names in amps but they make extremely well crafted stuff in Canada. Ill admit I wanted this amp on looks alone. But after getting it it is one of my go to amps in the studio. It is 40 Watts switchable to 15. It has a clean, pure and solo mode. The clean mode is the only one that utilizes the bass and treble, the other two which get dirtier from pure to solo just use the gain and master. It even has an effects loop, Bonus! It is driven by El34’s so it is very marshally in its midrange and punch but that can vary with a cab. I use it with an avatar closed back 2 12 and it sounds awesome. It doesnt do all out metal distortion but it can acheive a good amount of gain. It is more modern of a sound than say a classic rock distortion. Very full but not too grainy like say a vox or orange. All in all this is a great amp for a good price considering other similar amps are chinese made and usually only 15 watts. If you have never tried a traynor definitely check them out.
