Review: UAD Neve 1081
can really make something shine/stick out
One of the best sounding eqs ever
The Classic Neve sound in your DAW
Neve is known for their legendary Preamp/EQ units and is considered some of the best quality equipment money can buy. Im speaking of course of his older modules he sold/built back in the 1960s/70s. These are hard to find originals of and if you happen to come across one, you’re looking in the $4000 range and up. Luckily Universal Audio has gone and made an incredible emulation for us to use. How about the famous 1081 EQ section in your recording session. That’s right, now you can bring the tone/quality of an actual Neve 1081 into your setup.
The Neve 1081 is a 4 band eq with one of the smoothest, never overbearing tone anyone has ever listened to. Its vintage, but it has bite. Its smooth, but it can be aggressive. You cannot get a bad sound out of this thing. It has 2 midrange parametric eqs and 2 shelf EQs (Low and High) as well as the cleanest HPF/LPF I’ve personally ever heard. It rocks on pretty much anything, one thing I love it on is snares and vocals. On bass it also brings out a fat quality to it that only Neve is know to bring. If DSP were willing (and it could be with an Octo card), I would use this eq on every channel whether or not I actually use it. Go ahead and try this thing out. It will blow you away
