Review: Waves RDeesser
* Incredibly simple to use
* Great results fast!
* Range control allows you to adjust range of compression amount
* "sidechain" listen function makes life easier
A total classic by Waves. The R Deesser is one of Waves‘ most praised and used plugins. It’s offers the most simple to use GUI that always delivers great results. A few set of basic controls that interact with eachother in order to remove S’s and plosives. These include frequency select and Sidechain listen. Clicking “Sidechain” allows you to audition and listen only to the frequencies R Deeeser is affecting, allowing you to correctly and wisely choose where your problematic frequency range. Using the “frequency” control, you can pinpoint exactly where the S’s stand out. All that is left is adjusting the threshold (point at which the compressor starts to work) and the range controls. Range is an extremely useful addition, making it possible to lower your threshold far enough where it catches the most quietist passages of your source and still catches your problem frequencies without having a lisp effect. You can bring your threshold down and bring the range up to avoid having it over compress, avoiding giving the artist a “Lisp.” It narrows the range of compression amount, so I never compress more than 6 DBs. The interaction between these 2 controls makes this one of the most versatile Deessers on the market and definetely my go-to deesser. It’s flawless and fool proof. Couldn’t be any easier. Waves knocked it out of the park with this plugin!
